Idea
Our rich heritage, that is carefully passed on from one generation to the other, is what keeps us together!
Sustainable clothing refers to clothing made and used in an environmentally and socially responsible way. This can include a variety of practices, such as using environmentally friendly materials, reducing waste and pollution during production, and considering the entire life cycle of the clothing, from raw materials to disposal.Ā
Varso believes in promoting this kind of eco-friendly clothing and preserving it. Varso presents handwoven clothes with a modern style to the fashion industry with many artisans from Gujarat. The art of making handmade clothes has been around for thousands of years, but people have started wearing modern and machine-made clothes with changing times. Machine-made clothes have advantages but also disadvantages. Varso is committed to presenting these stainable clothes to the people and the current trending culture of handmade garments.
The goal of Varso isĀ
- To minimize the fashion industry's negative impact on the environment and society.
- To create a more sustainable and equitable system for producing and consuming clothing.Ā
- To Bring Indian handicrafts to the international level.
- To create a network of artisans and empower them.
- To promote social and economic sustainability.
- Contribute to the overall health and well-being of people.
Execution
Komal Ahir, founder and designer of Varso has been involved in this handcrafting work in some way since childhood and was already very interested in the art of artisans and weavers. But with time, modern fashion took the place of this handcraft, and then Komal Ahir felt the desire to do something for all these artisans.
Thus, this is how Varso began. Varso is a Gujarati term meaning ancestry and Varso's tagline What Keeps us Together. Our forefathers preserved this art, preserving and uniting us all. All this handcraft is made by skilled craftspeople who have learned these techniques through generations of tradition, and it is a significant part of the region's cultural identity. Hence the name Varso is perfect.
Komal decided that she would start Varso from Kutch as the Kutch region is known for its rich cultural heritage and tradition of handcrafted textiles and clothing.
Komal then approached the artisans living in a village on the outskirts of Kutch, saw their art, and decided what heritage could do for them. Komal and her team decided to design something new by studying designs from all over the world and created innovative designs in Kala cotton, Ajrakh, Soof, hand embroidery, etc., and will soon Varso bring you the hidden handcrafts of all India and new colors.
Thus, it will not be surprising if India's local art also raises its international influence.

The idea behind Varso was clear, and the execution was also perfect. But now, the big challenge was to make the handcrafted items reach any customer in the world very quickly and accurately.
Handmade garments usually take much time to make as these clothes are hand woven with thread and then dyed with natural dyes. After dyeing, printing, and embroidery, these clothes are cut and stitched in various designs.Ā
Thus, after all this hard work, these Eco-friendly garments reach you with exquisite packing.
We all should wear such eco-friendly clothes because,
- Sustainable garments often use materials that are produced in a more environmentally friendly way, such as organic cotton or recycled polyester.Ā
- Sustainable garments may be produced under fair labor conditions, helping to support the well-being and rights of workers in the fashion industry.
- Sustainable garments are more durable and long-lasting, saving money in the long run.
- Wearing sustainable garments can be a way for individuals to make a personal statement about their values and express their commitment to a more sustainable future.
