PRODUCT CARE

Wash and Care for Handwoven Kala Cotton:

  • Our cotton products can be washed by hand or put into a machine as well.
  • We recommend washing the fabric at 30°C to keep the shape and size intact, prevent possible shrinkage and keep them looking their best.
  • Darker colored and natural dyed pieces should also be hand washed separately in cold water.
  • To dry the clothes, they can be hung under the shade while flipped inside out.

Wash and Care for Linen:

  • Separate white, dark, and colored linens. For best results, wash separately from other fabrics.
  • Wash in lukewarm water (<40°C/104°F). High temperatures may cause shrinkage of up to 10% and weaken the linen fiber.
  • Use the gentle machine cycle and don’t overload your washing machine.
  • Use mild detergent formulated for delicate fabrics. Don't bleach.

Wash and Care for Naturally dyed Clothes:

  • Soak in cold water and use a mild detergent. Wash Natural dyed garments separately.
  • Avoid machine wash as it can muddle up your laundry and lead to quick color fading.
  • Clothes can be hung to dry instead of using a machine dryer which ultimately uses more energy and electricity.
  • Don’t leave the pile of wet clothes unattended, dry immediately.
  • Do not dry these garments in direct sunlight, as this often results in excessive color fading.
  • Fabric color will tend to spread and bleed into the water. As a result, a slightly noticeable fade of color may occur over time, which is natural and adds to the charm of the clothes.
  • Avoid machine wash as it can muddle up your laundry and lead to quick color fading.
  • Hand-wash in isolation to check for color overspill.
  • Iron inside-out.

Note: Indigo, along with other natural dyes, are used in Clothes that are entirely made using environmentally friendly resources and materials. Therefore, they need to be treated with care. As these dyes are all-natural, derived from pure sources, they do no damage to the environment. Moreover, Indigo has healing properties to the skin and aid in keeping the body cool during summers, which is apt for the Indian climate.

Storage:

  • Store your clothes in a cool, dry place to prevent any damage from moisture. for added protection, you can place your garments in a muslin bag along with a small sachet of cloves. This not only keeps insects at bay but also ensures your clothes retain a pleasant aroma.

Fold Care:

  • To prevent permanent creases and avoid fabric fading, unfold or change the fold of your garments every month. This simple practice helps the fabric breath and distributes any pressure points evenly, preserving the garment's color and integrity over time.
